MEC Cannes Titanium triumph – Ikea Malmö opening

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Well Forsmann & Bodenfors…and MEC won it’s first Integrated Titanium Lion. Fantastic. It was won for the Ikea opening in Malmö, where you tagged pictures of furniture with your name. The first to tag won the piece of furniture and of course the rumor spread on Facebook feeds and updates. Not a bad idea, but again a Cannes Lions Titanium winner? I don’t think so. It looks like they liked Social Media for the winners this season.

A Hunch!

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

In the future more and more important services/sites will be aggregations of content such as Huffington Post. Services, based on the user’s own preferences either because the user seeks them out herself or based on bespoke content tailored to each person’s taste.

Now, Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake has developed a new site called Hunch which provides customized recommendations. Hunch proposes a concrete and customized recommendation for all kind of topics and refines its results by asking you questions about both the topic itself and who you are.

LIKE HAVING A FRIEND
Increasingly, the Hunch technology will  learn the individual user’s personality and preferences like a friend who over time will get to know your taste, so she can provide trusted advice.

Copenhagen X Sessions – by Sony Ericsson

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

MEC in Copenhagen has developed a concept for Sony Ericsson we call The Copenhagen X Sessions. X because it is for Sony Ericsson’s Xperia platform, the X10 model for starters, and Sessions because we gathered the cream of the Danish upcoming music scene and recorded a string of music and video sessions with them. The concept is ultra high quality in artist, performance, music and video – totally free for download. A new type of concept where the company – in this case Sony Ericsson acts like a record company except… we made it free. It benefits the musicians – who are paid and a platform and free recording/video and the brand Sony Ericsson – because they are associated with music and provides content to their target audience and phones, which should generate sales, buzz and loyalty. Everybody wins. Quite simply. The first sessions to be released are from the excellent danish bands – I Got you on Tape, Giana Factory and Sleep Party People.

The sessions are recorded and produced at Black Tornado Studios in Copenhagen, by Mikkel Max and Ebbe Frey – both previously in Epo555 and all video art was done by Michael Voight from Good Boy Creative. Here is a behind the scenes clip from yesterday, when one of the last sessions were recorded with the band Cody – indie, folky, post rocky country – excellent stuff. I apologize for the non HD quality, but it was recorded with the X10:-)

Social dynamics – how the tones do it…

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Now as you might have guessed I’m a deftones fan… a big deftones fan. Now they don’t usually do a lot of marketing/advertising. At least not in Denmark. However for the release of their new album, they have been trying to create a sort of social media carrousel. How does this work you ask?  Now as a fan I follow them on twitter. So what happens is that I get a twitter post stating that some new piece of content is available – I click on the link which takes me to deftones Facebook page, here is a short description of the content, which then again links to their Youtube channel, where they stream the content.

I’ve noticed that to feed this they have developed new pieces of content that they would not have done previously, eg. a “Lyric” video for their new single – Diamond Eyes. What is that? Well excactly what they say it is. A Video with the lyrics printed on it. Or more importently a reason to talk to the fans.

They did exactly the same for their first video – Rocked Skates and for the initial free download of Rocket Skates (from www.deftones.com). And to download the mp3 you had to retweet that you could download the mp3 for free… Complicated – not really. Smart, well yes. STP just did the same just to stream their new single. Smart, not so much.

Anyways I find it quite interesting the way all this works. Let me know if you all have some cool examples of Social Media.

Here are a few os the deftones links:

Deftones use Twitter and facebook to promote video and itunes…interestingly

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

…is that a word… Anyways what they did was tweet (to their followers) that the new video was now available for free download.. click here -  which refers you to facebook where you access a download page. Now in order to get the free download (HD quality) you need to retweet the original message. Now that generates wom, while selling singles and letting people see the video – which is cool.

New Media Days Day I part IV: From the big idea to the big ideal

Monday, November 16th, 2009

As a brand how do you become a trusted advisor? It is really about going from the big idea to the big ideal. You need to do something good for your consumers and maybe even for society at large. Lars Bastholm from Ogilvy & Mather addressed this in a very energetic mode taking us through a number of great case examples.

Volkswagen is acting idealistic on people’s behalf when it comes to public health in this video. It’s called ‘Rolighetsteorin’ and the idea is that people might want to exercise more and choose the stairs in the metro if it’s fun.
